THE CHATTERBOX - Benton Harbor Michigan

Test

The North Shore Inn is a nice call, but the Chatterbox on Territorial in BH serves the best burger in Berrien County. Ignore the smoke, the grime, the grease, the grit, and the gal on the corner who probably isn't a gal. And leave your yuppie credit cards at home; its cash only. The tables are a little wobbly. The chairs don't match. The restrooms have their own flora (and fauna) eco-system. I think there is a bullet hole in the wall by table 8. Music is played from a shabby stereo that hasn't heard a song written after 1975. Don't make eye contact with anyone but your server, and only long enough to utter the words 'burger with everything' The cook's apron has enough soaked-in oil to heat a mobile home from December through mid-January. If its artsy garbage you are after, don't go; in fact, just shoot yourself. If you want to hear some faded hippie strum his guitar in the corner, avoid this place. If you ask "where is the live music", expect your head to be placed through a window. Don't look for trouble. Asking if they serve 'latte' is the equivalent of trouble. Leave the wife and kids at home. Leave yourself at home too if cry a lot. It's the best under-$8 meal you'll ever eat. Ever.
